Being Present with Jesus – Brittany White (Sunday 30/04/17 PM)
Discipleship is about following Jesus, but it’s also about being with Jesus. How do we answer Jesus’ question, ‘who do you say I am?’ Knowing Jesus is foundational to following him as disciples.
Activate Your Faith – Bjorn Irani (Sunday 30/04/17 AM)
As disciples, the difference between a solid foundation and one of sand is putting into practice what you have heard. Sharing your faith is a powerful way of activating what God has been building internally, and is central to the life of the disciple, since God has ‘committed to us the message of reconciliation… as though making His appeal through us’ (1 Cor 5:19-20).
Encountering the Resurrected Jesus (Easter Sunday) – Mark Sayers (Sunday 16/04/17)
As we celebrate the risen Jesus on Easter Sunday, Mark preaches from Luke 24 to look how we as disciples encounter and follow the living, present Jesus.
Palm Sunday and God’s Plan to Change the World – Mark Sayers (Sunday 09/04/17)
On Palm Sunday we look at Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. As followers of Jesus we declare him King, and his Kingdom’s reign – what does it look like to give up other ‘kingdoms’ for Christ’s?
The Disciple’s Prayer (Part 2) – Sarah Deutscher (Sunday 02/04/17)
Sarah looks at the second part of the prayer that Jesus teaches his disciples in Luke 11.
The Disciple’s Prayer (Part 1) – Sarah Deutscher (Sunday 26/03/17)
We continue our Lent series through Luke, looking at the prayer that Jesus teaches the disciples in Luke 11:1-4. Sarah highlights Jesus’ use of the words ‘Father’ and ‘Kingdom’ – drawing out the significance of these in a Jewish setting, and why, for us today, praying this prayer could be considered controversial.
The Cure for a Stuck Faith – Bjorn Irani (Sunday 19/03/17)
Much has been said about the growing epidemic of entitlement in Western culture – how is this impacting our faith? Jesus talks about the hard-to-find narrow road that leads to life (Matthew 7:13-14). Bjorn encourages us in resisting entitlement in our faith and embracing the hard but life-giving way of Jesus.
The Man who Silenced Satan – Sarah Deutscher (Sunday 12/03/17)
Looking at Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness (Luke 4), Sarah explores how in resisting the enemy and trusting wholly in God, Jesus shows us what it means to be human. He also shows the way to expose and stand against the devil’s schemes to give glory to the Father.
Red Hot Faith – Mark Sayers (Sunday 05/03/17)
We continue the theme of Follow Me as we launch into the season of Lent. If we want to know what characterises a disciple, we look to Jesus in Luke 22:42: ‘yet not my will but yours be done’. When the gap between information and obedience decreases, we develop a living faith and community of disciples.
